Add water

When the gyoza are lightly browned, pour water over them. (covering about one-third of the dumplings)

2

Arrange the dumplings

Arrange the gyoza so they do not stick together much

1

Prepare your pan

Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat, then evenly spread 1 tablespoon of oil over it. (high heat neutral oil)

BONUS TIP -The Perfect Finish for Crispy Gyoza

Once your gyoza have been steamed and are fully cooked, there's one final step that takes them to the next level.

5. Lift the lid, allow the remaining liquid to evaporate completely, then leave the gyoza on the pan over medium-high heat. Let them cook gently until the underside becomes beautifully golden and crispy, creating the perfect contrast to the tender, juicy filling.

For an authentic finishing touch, drizzle a little sesame chilli oil over the gyoza before serving and enjoy them with soy sauce.

Gyoza are wonderfully versatile and pair perfectly with many Japanese-inspired dishes. Serve them alongside a comforting noodle soup, a fresh poke bowl, or your favourite rice dish to create a complete and delicious meal.
